1970 Camaro Z28
This 1970 Z28 RS Camaro retains almost all its original factory installed parts. On June 13, 1970 husband and wife Howard and Mary P walked into Modern Chevrolet in Winston Salem NC and purchased this rare optioned Camaro. At the time their 1966 Rambler was not cutting it so it was traded in on this Z28, total trade in value $1211.60. The car was kept by the new owners for a few years and sold to Ron R who sold to Michael W of Rogers MN, the car was then discovered and ended up in a private collection in California. We found the car and made a deal with the collector, in all the years this car has only had three registered owners and have a copy of the title in the name of Michael W. Some of the rare options are Rally Sport, M22 transmission (rare), Custom Deluxe Interior, Custom Seat belts and a factory stripe delete (rare) car making this one rare ride.
The car still maintains most of its original paint, interior and factory installed driveline making this a true numbers matching car. The Camaro has all the original documentation, such as the original window sticker, sales invoice, Protecto Plate, Pre-Delivery Inspection sheet, wheel trim instruction sheet, owners manual, warranty fold out and the Modern Chevrolet sleeve the information would have come in.
We were also able to connect with the original owner who purchased this car new in 1970, Howard still lives in NC and was very surprised to hear his car was still around. He was grateful to get the call and we spent over an hour discussing old cruising and racing stories. The original owner confirmed the car was ordered and came with no stripes (stripe delete), also he wanted the “heavy duty” transmission so the sales person told him to order the M22.
This Camaro was recently featured in the Spring 2017 Issue of Bone Stock & Modified Muscle Car Magazine.
